Frequently asked questions
How BourbonCollection works — from public browsing to your private collection.
About BourbonCollection
BourbonCollection helps enthusiasts track bottles, tasting notes, wishlists and hunt sightings. We publish a searchable bourbon and distillery catalogue for browsing and discovery.
We do not sell alcohol, arrange shipments, or provide medical or legal advice about drinking.
Product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners. We are not affiliated with distilleries unless clearly marked as a partner.
Account & registration
Your collection, wishlist, hunt log, tasting notes and exports require a free account when registration is open on the site.
Usernames are public handles (3–30 characters: letters, numbers and underscores). You can set an optional display name for how you appear on activity and profiles.
You can browse the public catalogue, distillery pages, discover feed and distillery map without logging in. Some actions (add to collection, wishlist, hunt) prompt you to sign in.
Age & alcohol
You must be of legal drinking age in your country to use BourbonCollection. The age splash and registration ask you to confirm this.
We store a bc_age_verified cookie for about 30 days so you are not asked on every visit. Signing up requires the same confirmation plus acceptance of our Terms and Privacy Policy.
Drink responsibly. Never drink and drive.
Browse & discover
Use Discover for a hub linking to the activity feed and catalogue exploration.
Browse Bourbon lists every bottle in the database with filters and search. Distillery pages group bottles by producer. The distillery map shows locations for distilleries we have coordinates for.
Public bottle and distillery pages are designed for search engines; your private notes and collection stay in your account.
Your collection
Signed-in collectors can maintain multiple named collections (for example home bar vs. bunker). Each collection can be public or private; public lists appear on your profile and in Discover activity.
Use the collection switcher on the Collection page to add lists, rename them, and choose which list you are viewing. Move bottles between lists when editing a bottle.
You can export the active collection as CSV from the collection area, or download a full ZIP of your account data from Settings.
Wishlist
The wishlist is a signed-in feature: track bottles you want, optional target price and notes.
Wishlist items are private to your account unless a future sharing feature says otherwise.
Hunt log & map
The hunt log is for signed-in members to record where you spotted a bottle, optional shelf price, and whether it is still available.
You can choose to share a sighting on the community hunt map so other hunters can see recent public sightings (your exact notes stay yours).
The community hunt map in the app is separate from the public distillery map, which shows producer locations—not store sightings.
Privacy, cookies & export
We use strictly necessary cookies for login sessions, CSRF protection, optional “remember me”, and age verification. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
You may request access, correction or deletion of personal data. Signed-in users can download a ZIP from Settings (profile): profile, collection, wishlist, hunt log, tasting notes and follows as CSV files inside the archive.
We do not sell your personal data. Non-essential analytics or ad cookies will only be used with consent if we enable advertising features.
